Meet the 2016-2017 Executive board

Executive chairperson

Sarah Hume

¡Hola a mis tĺos! I’m Sarah, your executive chair for IST Benefiting THON 2018. I’m a sophomore majoring in Cyber Security and minoring in Spanish. I am also the president of Project: PAWS, a club that fundraises, educates, and volunteers for our local animal shelters. I’m pretty much obsessed with dogs, and I have a yellow lab puppy named Paxton! My journey with THON started long ago when I started Owen J. Roberts High School’s Mini-THON in my Freshman year. I love everything the Four Diamonds Fund represents and everything they do for children battling pediatric cancer. I hope we can keep taking our org to new heights, FTK!

Vice Executive Chairperson

Christine Walsh

My name is Christine Walsh and I’m a junior double majoring in Information Sciences and Technology: Integration and Application option and Security and Risk Analysis: Intelligence Analysis and Modeling option. This is my fourth year involved in IST Benefiting THON and my first year as Vice Executive Chair. In the past, I have been our organization’s Finance Chair and Donor and Alumni Relations Chair. I had so much fun the past three years, and I can’t wait to create even more memories with such amazing people and raise money FTK!

Donor and Alumni Relations Chairperson

Jaime MacEachern

Hello! My name is Jaime and I'm a senior in the College of IST, majoring in SRA and minoring in IST. This is my second year as a member of IST benefiting THON and I could not be happier to be a part of such a great org! As DAR chair, I'm looking forward to working with everyone this year to raise money for such a great cause. Outside of THON and classes, I love watching and playing sports, running, petting dogs, and listening to music.

Family Relations Chairpersons

Matt Whiteman

My name is Brendan Keeports and I am a senior majoring in Security and Risk Analysis with a focus on Information and Cybersecurity as well as pursuing a minor in Information Sciences and Technology. This will be my second year as a member of IST FTK, as well as my second year being elected to the executive board! In the Fall of 2015, I transferred from Penn State Altoona to the University Park campus. While in Altoona, I supported THON by aiding two independent dancers, who were selected to dance in THON 2014. Outside of THON, I like to go sailing with my friends and play many different sports. I cannot wait to get to know everyone and continue to support our organization!

Celina Orbin

My name is Celina Orbin and I’m a senior in the College of IST. I’m majoring in Information Sciences and Technology in the option of Integration and Application, as well as minoring in Security and Risk Analysis. This is my second year in IST Thon and my first year on the e-board. I am so glad I decided to join IST Thon last year. The club allowed me to meet new people and do things I’ve never done before. It was my first time canning and attending Thon weekend! My first Thon was more exciting than I could put into words. Seeing all the effort that students put into this cause, throughout the year, is inspiring. It means so much to me to be a part of something that changes so many lives. As this year’s Family Relations co-chair, I am looking forward to getting closer to the families. I’m also hoping to have more events with our families so that everyone can meet them. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!

Merchandise Chairperson

Katt Shatinsky

Social Events Chairperson

Quichen Azzalina

Hello! My name is Colleen Allen and I am a senior majoring in SRA and minoring in IST. This is my fourth and final year with the org and I am so excited to make my senior year the best one yet! I am from State College, PA so my family is not too far away and I love seeing them when I can. I also enjoy cooking, watching films, reading my horoscope and taking fitness classes. We are so lucky to have two amazing THON families and I encourage everyone to get to know them this year.

Technology Chairperson

Adam Gilbert

Hi everyone! My name is Adam Gilbert and I'm a sophomore majoring in SRA and minoring in telecommunications. This is my second year with IST THON and I'm so excited to serve as the technology chair making videos advertising this incredible cause. I got started with the Four Diamonds Fund in my hometown playing an intricate part in planning mini-THON for 3 years. I love everything about the organization and am extremely passionate about the cause! Other than THON I work for Penn State Athletics producing videos for all of the teams, including the football team, and pouring into Cru, my campus ministry. In my free time I enjoy editing videos for fun, reading, long distance runs, playing soccer and basketball, and watching Philadelphia sports. I'm crazy about the 76ers so naturally I'll end my bio by saying Trust the Process.

Finance Chairperson

Aaron McKenzie

This is my second year in IST THON and I'm very excited to be the finance chair on the e-board. I am a senior this year in the Smeal College of Business majoring in Corporate Innovation. I’m very excited to start our fall events and see our families once again. THON is an amazing philanthropic organization that I take great pride in being a part of, my favorite part is spending time with the families we have a direct impact on.
