My name is Kathleen Beck, and I am a Senior in Information Sciences and Technology with minors in Business and Telecommunications. I am from Tyrone, PA and have been a Nittany Lion fan my whole life. I am so excited to be the President of IST Benefiting THON this year! When my brother went to Penn State, he was the President of this org too! It’s really awesome continuing the Beck reign since I have been a part of it for so long. Last year I was FR chair, and I loved being so close to the families. I can’t wait to see where this year takes us. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Vice Executive Chairperson
Donor and Alumni Relations Chairperson
My name is Christine Walsh and I’m a junior double majoring in Information Sciences and Technology: Integration and Application option and Security and Risk Analysis: Intelligence Analysis and Modeling option. This is going to be my third year involved in IST FTK and my first year as Co-Donor and Alumni Relations Chair. I had so much fun the past two years, and I can’t wait to create even more memories with such amazing people!
Hey I'm Gab and this is my second year as Alumni and Donor Relations co-chair. I am a sophomore majoring in Accounting. I love playing and watching sports, including golf, running, basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and football. I have two siblings, including a twin sister who attends the University of Pittsburgh. My other sibling is my older brother, who graduated from Penn State.
I am inspired and motivated by the community of love and support we create through THON, and the impact that has on the families and volunteers. We create a positive force against cancer for our community, families, and everyone affected by cancer. I, along with thousands of other THON volunteers, have been blessed with the opportunity to be a facilitator of change and bring a light into the darkness of pediatric cancer. I THON for a world where cancer never wins, and kids can be just kids. FTK!
Family Relations Chairpersons
My name is Brendan Keeports and I am a senior majoring in Security and Risk Analysis with a focus on Information and Cybersecurity as well as pursuing a minor in Information Sciences and Technology. This will be my second year as a member of IST FTK, as well as my second year being elected to the executive board! In the Fall of 2015, I transferred from Penn State Altoona to the University Park campus. While in Altoona, I supported THON by aiding two independent dancers, who were selected to dance in THON 2014. Outside of THON, I like to go sailing with my friends and play many different sports. I cannot wait to get to know everyone and continue to support our organization!
Hi, I am Laura Daly a current sophomore majoring in SRA from Brooklyn, New York. IST THON was one of the first organizations I joined when I came to Penn State. I really enjoyed being part of the organization, but I didn’t truly understand how great THON was until my first THON weekend. THON Weekend was an amazing experience and I loved every moment of it. Being there and being part of everything allowed me to see how big of an impact THON had on so many families and it inspired me to become more involved. Immediately after THON I decided I was going to run for Family Relations Chair, because I wanted to get a chance to work closely with the families. I also am President of West Halls Residence Association and Public Relations Chair of the Association of Residence Hall Students. In my spare time I love to spend time with my friends, read and watch Netflix. I also am a huge Disney fan. I’m excited for all the wonderful work THON will do this year and am happy that I get to take a larger role in this wonderful organization!
Special Events Chairperson
Hello! My name is Colleen Allen and I am a senior majoring in SRA and minoring in IST. This is my fourth and final year with the org and I am so excited to make my senior year the best one yet! I am from State College, PA so my family is not too far away and I love seeing them when I can. I also enjoy cooking, watching films, reading my horoscope and taking fitness classes. We are so lucky to have two amazing THON families and I encourage everyone to get to know them this year.
Hello all! My name is Audra Stafursky and I am a junior majoring in IST Design and Development. This is my second year as Technology Chair for IST Benefiting THON and third year with the org! I love being a part of this organization because the dedication to the cause is so inspiring, and all of our efforts are impacting so many children in need. Also, because our organization is small, it is a great way to make new friends. I consider most of the members to be some of my closest friends, and I have IST Benefiting THON to thank for that. When I'm not working or in class, you can find me doing yoga, playing basketball, or tennis.
This is my second year in IST THON and I'm very excited to be the finance chair on the e-board. I am a senior this year in the Smeal College of Business majoring in Corporate Innovation. I’m very excited to start our fall events and see our families once again. THON is an amazing philanthropic organization that I take great pride in being a part of, my favorite part is spending time with the families we have a direct impact on.
